Most people who meet Jaime Kennedy come to know her as a fitness enthusiast. On the weekends, you’ll have a hard time catching up with her – between running local races, standup paddleboarding, sailing, fishing in local tournaments (she’s actually a two-time third place finisher in the Wine, Women & Fishing tournament held annually in Virginia Beach), boxing, weightlifting, ziplining, hiking, spinning at TidalWheel, and personal training sessions at Meyer Fitness in Ghent, Jaime is an all around go-getter.
Born and raised in Hampton Roads, Jaime graduated from Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake in 1994, and began building her career early – gathering up professional accolades and landing prestigious jobs at local accounting firms – before her degree was even framed. Jaime got her Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting at Old Dominion University (Go Monarchs!) in 1997, and continues to support their alumni programs today.
In the beginning, Jaime worked as an auditor at Witt, Mares & Company, and McPhillips, Roberts, and Dean, both highly respected local firms. After gaining valuable professional experience, where she worked closely with a number of small local family-owned businesses and much larger multimillion dollar corporations, Jaime went on to earn her CPA designation in February of 1999, and her CFE designation in February of 2013.
Inspired by the business owners with whom she worked closely for the previous twelve years, Jaime decided to go into business for herself, and opened Jaime E. Kennedy, CPA in 2009.
Specializing in forensic accounting, fraud investigations, and small business accounting, Jaime is meticulous, organized, and efficient. Jaime is also active in the community, serves on the Norfolk TowneBank Leadership Board, and has her Real Estate Broker’s License.
A fun-loving, up-for-anything kind of girl, Jaime brings a fierce competitive drive to both her business and her personal life. She appreciates the challenge of a fraud investigation, is a prepared and confident witness in the courtroom, and, most importantly, shares a passion for the entrepreneurial spirit with her clients.
